Protest over dismissal of newspaper editors following false story about runway cracks

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Employees of Thai newspaper 'The Bangkok Post' have protested against the dismissal of two editors following a story about cracks on the runway at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The airport is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2006. The newspaper retracted the story the next day.

A demonstration was held on Monday (29 August) by nearly 100 journalists at The Bangkok Post who claim that the editors lost their jobs after pressure from Thailand's government.
